Halliday awards Domaine Naturaliste the Best Value Winery in Australia in 2020

Mr James Halliday, Australia’s most influential and respected wine critic, announced in Melbourne on 7th August that Domaine Naturaliste is the Best Value Winery in Australia in 2020.  It means that the wines are both great quality and great value.  The quality value ratio is important to all wine lovers.

Bruce Dukes, Domaine Naturaliste’s Winemaker, emotionally said “It is an honour that out of around 2600 producers in Australia, Domaine Naturaliste of Margaret River has been chosen by Australia’s greatest and most experienced wine expert for this award.  Margaret River has a set of natural conditions which suit the farming of grapes very well. The long gentle ripening season, combined with ancient decomposed soils result in balanced vines which yield flavoursome fruit, with a natural composition well suited to premium wine.  As a grape grower and winemaker, I feel blessed to be in Margaret River.  It is an exciting frontier.  The timing of this award is great, as I have recently invested in a mature vineyard in the Wilyabrup sub-region of Margaret River”.

Domaine Naturaliste’s wines are styles based on trying to understand the inherent strengths of the Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah fruit from Margaret River.  Dukes sites fruit freshness, flavour and texture as the qualities he seeks in his wines. When asked if his Domaine Naturaliste wines were natural, and he replied “ 99 % natural and 1 % supernatural”.
