PURUS CHARDONNAY
Purus is a translation of pristine flavours, textures and the climate of southern Margaret River Chardonnay into wine.

96pts Halliday Wine Companion "Feeling tired and sluggish? A glass of this pure, racy Purus will bring spark back into your life. It's more than the refreshing acidity, which is moreish and energising, there's a light film of citrus and white stone fruit, a little spice, a very fine layering of texture and oak. Super balance and length. Love it." Jane Faulkner.
96pts Ray Jordan "Quite a different take on the Artus is this more classically defined modern expression of the variety. There is a pristine purity evident immedidately with a floral cut lime and pear lift on the nose. Then the palate coils and tightens as it extends through to a very long finish. An elegant wine with a purity and finesse that is so appealing."
95pts James Suckling & Top 100 Australian Wines 2024 "The nose is wonderfully giving and inviting with complex aromas of lemon curd, orange blossoms, oyster shells and sea spray. The medium-bodied palate has high-tension acidity and generous mouthfeel, giving notes of grapefruit pith, jasmine and gunsmoke. Mineral with an underlying power and salty finish. Very good."
93+pts Gary Walsh, Winefront "White peach, grapefruit, spicy clove and ginger oak, green olive and fennel, white flowers. It’s a tight wine, distinct green olive and lime rind bite, a little sour yoghourt, and quite some acidity here, a powdery chalky texture, with an olive brine savoury finish of zip and good length. It’s shelly and maybe sits on the cusp of ripeness, though it does have energy, and, I feel a bit of upside given a few more years in bottle."

96pts Jane Faulkner, Halliday Wine Companion "This is scintillating thanks to the purity of fruit, the superfine palate led by pristine acidity with a little saline twang to it. There's texture, a light phenolic tug to the finish: this offers complexity and delicious drinking in equal measure."
96pts Huon Hooke "Light yellow colour with a bouquet of oatmeal,, cream hazelnuts and smoky toasty oak undercurrents. Intense, rich palate with delicacy as well as generosity; ...complex, still subtle and refined, with terrific length and precision."
95pts Ray Jordan "A thoroughly beautiful chardonnay expressing this variety with a pristine purity. Highly minerally opening with a little sea spray over the richer notes of nectarine and white peach. On the palate a slice of pear and a little lime add another dimensions. Strikes an ideal balance of fruit and oak. One of Dukes' best under this label. A beauty."

97pts James Halliday "The glittering green hue is a pointer to what is to come. Complex barrel ferment aromas bring crushed cashew and a funky wreath of blanched almonds into play. It is the brightest and quicksilver-lightest on its feet of the three chardonnay siblings, with fantastic length and perfect balance."
96+ Parker pts Wine Advocate "The 2021 Purus Chardonnay is incredibly concentrated, defined by scintillating acidity. It all comes down to the acid, in the end. The fruit courses in rivulets through the channels that the acid cuts—like water into rock over time. There is stephanotis, white pepper, rosemary, saltbush, red apple skins, crushed pistachio and a hint of rose petal. There is also a note of white tea. This is an excellent, distinct wine. Polarizing, very special. "Tensile," says Dukes. Erin Larkin
95pts Ray Jordan "Strikes out with a searing minerality on the nose. A slight saline character works in with other deeper characters of white peach and nectarine. The palate is beautifully refined and fine with a distinctly linear profile and shape. Finishes with a savoury saline edge that leaves a lip-smacking feeling in the mouth."
95pts Cassandra Charlick “A symphonic wine that keeps giving long after the final note has been played.“
93pts James Suckling “Aromas of crushed thyme, rosemary, baked lemons and white peaches. Medium-bodied. Fresh and transparent with crisp acidity. Succulent with subtle tannins guiding the way. Drink or hold. “

92 Robert Parker Wine Advocate “intensely scented of evolving notes of ripe apricots, meal, ginger, marzipan and brioche with hints of struck match, cedar and quince paste. The medium-bodied palate has a lovely creaminess to the texture with plenty of depth of stone fruit, toast and nut flavors and some earthiness to the long lively finish.” Lisa Perotti-Brown
