2023

96pts Ray Jordan "So you want to know how good 2023 was for red wines in Margaret River? Well, check this thoroughly engaging pure vibrant fruit-dominant Cabernet. Bursting with punchy red fruits and overtones of violet and cherry. The palate is medium-bodied with a seamless oak and fruit integration. Just a beautiful wine for drinking in the short term, but with the essentials to handle cellaring."

95pts Halliday Wine Companion "All the fabulous varietal and regional aromas plus flavours are on full display thanks to an excellent vintage. A neat combo of violets, mulberries, blackcurrants and all manner of baking spices, especially cinnamon with mocha, licorice and coffee grinds. Full-bodied, ripe, sweet fruit floods the palate, so too lots of cedary oak, and yet the tannins are fine and the acidity equally fine. Good drinking today, even better with more time."

94pts Gary Walsh, Winefront "The quality of the fruit here is excellent, and it really pops with bright blue and purple crushed grapes, sports a bit of coffee barrel char and reduction as at now, but if you look past that there’s quite some perfume, aromatic spice, black olive, and very good structure. It has some chew to tannin, and offers freshness and a vibrant character, and the finish is long and firm. Give it a year or two in the cellar, and I’m sure you’ll be well rewarded."

92pts Erin Larkin, Parker Advocate "The 2023 Rebus Cabernet Sauvignon leads with a dusty perfume of cassis and bramble, cedar wood spices and salted licorice. On the palate, the wine is concentrated and chewy, with loads of flavor held in place by a pliable tannin framework. This is ever an impressive wine for the price and never as good as in such a lovely vintage as 2023."

2022

95pts Cassandra Charlick, Winepilot “This is pure Cabernet with lashings of blackcurrant, ribbon-like tannins and oodles of fruit on a bed of aok. The oak, firmly a support act, not the show's star. There's fluidity of motion, whirring around firm, ripe and fine-grained tannins. It's earlys, but they already leave the impression of melting onto the palate while the long, lithe line of acid retains its poise. This has it all; it's juicy and firm, generous while upholding tension. Potpourri and graphite pencil, sumac, dried rose petals, crushed black fruit, salted plum, crackling nori and jet black, fertile soil laced with crushed gravel. There's freshness of fruit too - boysenberry and lingonberry, raspberry juice finished with a lick of black olive flesh. A wine of its place with so much going on in it's youth and much more to come as it matures."

2021

94pts Mel Moore, WinePilot “...pronounced cassis and redcurrant aromas over layers of dried leaf and chocolate and vanilla creaminess from oak maturation..."

93pts Ray Jordan "Cooler season, but Dukes has been able to coax plenty from this excellent cabernet. Aromas of blackcurrant and black olive with an overlay of bay leaf. The palate is generous and held with a fine minerally acidity and well managed fine-grained oak. Structure and firm with deep flavour intentsity."

93pts Jane Faulkner, Halliday Wine Companion "There's a 8% merlot keeping the cabernet company and while there's a combo of mulberries and cassis with fresh herbs and eucalyptus, this is savoury in outlook. Aged a year in French oak, 35% new, which adds a cedary ovarlay with woodsy spices, yet the palate remains almost light, easy tannins a little sinewy with the texture of raw silk and a squirt of refreshing acidity to close."

Best in Show Trophy 97 pts - Decanter World Wine Awards 2023

“...dark, opaque black-red in colour, with very fresh woodland aromas seasoned with a little spice. The wine is dark and intense in character, it's fruits mingling with plant sap, earth and gravelly stone; there's ample soft tannins to give the wine dignity and food friendliness; and despite the overall freshness it still contrives to convey a sense of beguiling warmth and sweetness at the very end. Appetising, high-definition, and with near-invisible oak, this wine is very much on the pulse of it's region.".
